Editorial Policy

How we research, write, review, correct, and update the content on this site.

Primary sources only

Every factual claim about a medication on this site traces to a primary source. We use, in order of preference:

  • FDA-approved prescribing information via DailyMed
  • FDA guidance and Drug Safety Communications
  • MedlinePlus (NIH/NLM)
  • The Electronic Code of Federal Regulations for controlled-substance scheduling
  • DEA scheduling information
  • PubChem for chemical identity

We do not use pharmacy marketing copy, AI-generated summaries, or content farms as sources. If a claim cannot be traced to a primary source, we do not publish it.

How we handle products that are not real

Some names people search for are not FDA-approved medications at all. When we cover one, we say so plainly and explain why it is a risk, rather than writing a drug monograph for a product that does not exist. The FDA's guidance on counterfeit and illegally marketed drugs is the basis for these pages.

Review and dating

Every page shows the date it was last reviewed. Scheduling and legal status are re-checked against the Code of Federal Regulations and DEA sources on a regular basis, because those change.

Content is reviewed against our medical review policy and produced under the standards in our methodology.

Corrections

We correct errors when we find them and we say what changed. Corrections are logged on our corrections page. If you believe something here is wrong, please contact us with the page URL and the source that contradicts it.
